Subject: RE: [oic] Specification Analysis Wiki messed up

OK, I figured out what happened.

Apparently on 08-12, the wiki software was upgraded to 1.6 and the 1.6 upgrader rooted around in the pages and changed some things.

1. There are breaking changes between the previous format for URLs and in-wiki cross references.

2. The upgrader breaks some of them when compensating for the breaking changes.

3. I have found out what the changes are and I will use the SVN versions of the pages to upgrade them correctly. I will also upgrade the templates I use and the limited documentation that I am building.

4. This will take a little while, although it gives me an opportunity to do some review and additions related to template scenarios at the same time.

PS: I don't recall seeing an announcement that there was going to be a software upgrade and that there are breaking changes in the wikiText format between the previous version and 1.6. Did I miss it?

PPS: If enough people complain, and the 1.6 update is rolled back, I can roll back the wiki from the SVN even if I don't have privileges for reverting wiki pages directly. I would like advance warning if this is going to happen, preferably before I go through and repave all of the OIC Wiki pages to align with the breaking 1.6 changes.

PPPS: Because the changes are now compatible with how Wikimedia does the same things (apparently part of a great alignment among wiki implementations), I would prefer that 1.6 remain, but there might be other reasons why the upgrade is unsuccessful and need to be reverted.

Subject: [oic] Specification Analysis Wiki messed up

I was going to the Specification Analysis to link to some material there and discovered that the page at <http://wiki.oasis-open.org/oic/SpecAnalysis> is messed up. The links to further material have been damaged.

That the page was last edited by "localhost" is also curious. It appears that the Wiki software was updated (to version 1.6) and there are breaking changes as part of the upgrade process.

I will find out what the changes are and see how to recover the content material.
