2. STATUS OF ACTION ITEMS

  #0015 Template Scenarios. No progress.
#0026 Test Scenarios: Cherie is working on what it takes to release them to OIC. Bart thanks Cherie for providing them to the Plugfest.
#0033 Best Practices for Document Authors. Not doing anything with this while the ODF 1.2 crunch continues.
#0034 Interop Demo Videos. In progress
#0041 Battery of Conformance Assessment Probes. Rob discussed taking existing tests, finding others.

3. INTEROP ADVISORIES
   < http://wiki.oasis-open.org/oic/InteropAdvisories>
There are no new advisories at this point.
Bart requests that we look at what there is on the Wiki and see if further comments on any of those.

4. STATE OF INTEROPERABILITY PUBLIC REVIEW
The Public Review has started, ending November 4.
Two typos have been reported but we can approve the document as is if nothing more significant arises.
We plan on taking the document to Committee Specification and no farther.

5 TEST DOCUMENTS

   5.1 OpenFormula Test Document(s)
The test on YEARFRAC has been uploaded. Every implementation at the Plugfest passed most of the tests, but there were a couple where leap-day edge cases failed. If we were to do an interop advisory, we would probably address those cases.
The YEARFRAC test is easy enough to run because it is a self-test document and all ODF 1.2 implementations that support OpenFormula should work through those cases.
After the ODF TC achieves ODF 1.2 CD06 or ODF 1.2 Committee Specification, the tests should be reviewed to ensure that they still hold with respect to the later specification.
Rob reported how valuable it was to develop the tests while working on the specification of YEARFRAC. He thinks this would be great for every function in OpenFormula. Rob and Andreas worked back and forth to refine the definition and to have tests to put up against the proposed specification.
Rob talked about test cases and how testable provisions of the specification are identified, etc.
The Test Assertion Guidelines are on the way to becoming Committee Specifications, and they could well be applied for tests such as these.

   5.2 Microsoft Office Documents
   < http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oic/201010/msg00026.html>
There was more discussion of the documents that came from the Microsoft Office team. Cherie described the documents that were provided by Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the graphics team. The cases were scrubbed to make sure there was no proprietary content from third parties that contributed the documents the test versions were based on. This shrank the set somewhat, but the set is representative of a range of documents.
Submission to the OIC is pending a release statement that satisfies the teams and the legal review that happens inside Microsoft.
Bart wondered whether anyone else might have similar documents, such as KOffice, Oracle, IBM, etc.
Svante had tried some of the documents. He, and anyone else, are requested to send any problems they detect to Cherie.
Rob discussed conformance tests and how they need to be crafted, in contrast with documents that are considered representative of use categories.
There was also discussion about inspecting documents for what they cover, especially documents that come in with a complaint or a bug report.
With regard to the difficulty of generating test cases and providing some reasonable coverage, we also talked about how pre-occupation with the ODF 1.2 crunch is curtailing contributions in this area at the moment.

6. ROUND TABLE

Louis is interested in having another plugfest, and also wondered if we could organize a group of students to provide tests.
Bart reported that there is discussion of a plugfest somewhere in the UK in February or March. This would probably not be in London, but perhaps an adjoining location.

6. FUTURE MEETING PLANNING

The next call will be on 2010-11-17. The time will change to 1430-1530 UT so that North American times will be no earlier.

Respectfully submitted,

Dennis E. Hamilton, OIC TC Secretary
