I was working on a few standards that have strong Privacy implications in recent years. I leaned on the nascent PMRM work as well as the SOA-RM quite heavily,
and in tandem.
In smart energy, there is tendency to want to directly control mechanisms in the end node (which we called VEN, Virtual End Node). It is not hard to come up
with very bad scenarios, privacy-wise, built on modern data mining if one allows direct control. We used SOA and Privacy concerns in unison to push for service oriented schedules, service oriented definitions of energy, and service oriented energy interactions.
I wish we could have used Privacy more.
I would be an avid watcher of this initiative if it develops.

Subject: [pmrm] Privacy Principles across OASIS work
Hi all,
My fellow OASIS Board member Frederick Hirsch has asked me to forward the message below to you all.
Frederick has been working on some ideas for the Board on strengthening privacy principles across OASIS work and I'm happy to support him in these efforts.
Please reply to the list with Frederick in copy. Thanks.
Regards,
Peter

Members of PMRM TC:
The OASIS Board (of which I am a member) has discussed the importance and relevance of privacy.
Sharing information with OASIS TC members to help them incorporate privacy principles and practices into their work would be helpful. To this end we could add some materials to a new privacy section on the TC Admin page used by TCs [1] to help them understand
and apply practices in their work (e.g. adding a "Privacy" link under "Tools for TCs"). This is optional educational material.
In addition to a link to the PMRM Version 1.0 Committee Specification and external resources listed on the PMRM charter page, are there any brief expository materials that might help OASIS members that you might recommend?
Thanks
regards, Frederick
