Subject: RE: [pmrm] RE: Privacy Principles across OASIS work
Toby – Hi We have experts in the PMRM TC re: Smart Grid and have done a preliminary examination of aspects of the NIST Smart Grid model using the PMRM Methodology. So, the PMRM certainly does apply. We would welcome your involvement in applying the PMRM to the Smart Grid privacy challenges. I encourage members of the PMRM TC who are interested in the Smart Grid issues to speak up. Michael From: pmrm@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:pmrm@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Considine, Toby I was working on a few standards that have strong Privacy implications in recent years. I leaned on the nascent PMRM work as well as the SOA-RM quite heavily, and in tandem. In smart energy, there is tendency to want to directly control mechanisms in the end node (which we called VEN, Virtual End Node). It is not hard to come up with very bad scenarios, privacy-wise, built on modern data mining if one allows direct control. We used SOA and Privacy concerns in unison to push for service oriented schedules, service oriented definitions of energy, and service oriented energy interactions. I wish we could have used Privacy more. I would be an avid watcher of this initiative if it develops. tc "When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." -- Alexander Graham Bell
