Subject: Re: [regrep] Current Barriers to *Widespread* Adoption of XML Registries
The adoption of XML Registries varies depending upon the standard. ebXML Registry standard has been seeing the strongest adoption and has consistently been picking up steam in the last year. We see several deployed ebXML registries today. The adoption pattern is following the same trends as the adoption of any middleware technology. We are currently getting just beyond the early adopters phase to a few deployed sites. The main factor that is slowing large scale adoption is the lack of client applications. Most currently deployed solutions have custom applications. We need a few killer apps with wide applicability to get over the adoption hump (see David's post for a few good examples). Note that I do not think that the lack of implementations from large vendor's will hurt the adoption of the ebXML Registry standard at all. Organizations are deploying ebXML Registry implementations from smaller vendors as well as open source. -- Farrukh Chiusano Joseph wrote: >A few months ago I posted something here on the Registry TC listserv on >the subject of current ebXML Registry implementations.
