New documents

JeffE:
Introduces docs - aim is to ove these to official "CD" status
AnishK:
Do these doc's say what is required and what is optional?
JeffE:
Need to check this
BryanA:
Can we raise issues against these doc's without them being "official"
MartinC:
Normally TC officially accept contributions - but these directly from Editors so standing is questionable
Motion: m=BryanA s=DaveB Accept Implementation Type Document linked below as contribution to SCA Assembly TC for consideration
<MartinC>
Resolution: Accept Implementation Type Document linked below as contribution to SCA Assembly TC for consideration w/o
Action: Chairs to setup JIRA for issues relating to Implementation Type Document
Test Suite Adaptation Document
Really need MikeE to talk to this
Motion: m=BryanA s=SanjayP Accept Test Suite Adaptation Document linked above as contribition to TC for consideration
Resolution: Accept Test Suite Adaptation Document linked above as contribition to TC for consideration w/o
Action: Chairs to setup JIRA for issues relating to Test Suite Adaptation Document
Add JeffM to role
EricJ:
Can we now raise issues against these docs?
MartinC:
Yes, JIRA components will be set up

1.2 Specification Open Issues

EricJ:
Pointing to global domain channels undermines composability (as discussed on E-mail)

...add something to componentType to restore coupling between producers & consumers

...if we take away ability to point to domain channel how can we provide an alternate method?
PeterN:
Domain channels were included as a shorthand to avoid lots of promotion

...three options
1) Leave as is and note that domain channels "break" composability
2) Remove domain channels and just have to do all the promotion
3) Use "symbolic" channels that can be promoted at each level and then connected at the top (domain) level
AnishK:
Choice of how things are connected should be assemblers decision - not developer
MartinC:
Domain channels useful even though there's issues with composability and promotion

...is the use case that promoted producers & consumers are still connected to the SAME channel even when promoted independently
EricJ:
In general yes - but it's difficult do this with topics
EricJ:
Bindings already break composability and doesn't like adding another mechanism that can also break composability
<anish>
I'm not sure I understand why this is described as breaking composability, maybe breaking encapsulation (inside a composite) but not composability

...hence not in favour of option 1
EricW:
Not my wording :-}
PeterN:
Looking at Figure 2.4 in current proposal

...Have only promoted producers & consumers not connected to channel

...if producers & consumers that are connected are promoted then they SHOULD get existing messages on channel but also can get messages from other sources
EricJ:
Need a way of saying producer and consumer are connected AND promoted
PeterN:
We have way of indicating producer & consumer are connected and we can do promotion so what is missing

...seems that what is needed is a "shared channel" below the domain level?
Out of time
Discussion to continue on E-mail list
