Subject: SDD extensibility
Hi all, As you know, XML is self-describing markup language and hence its schema has the advantage of extensibility. Several proven technologies enable system evolutions and provide a means of backward and forward compatibility at the same time. I strongly believe that SDD MUST be extensible. The real issue is how to balance such extensibility and solidity of the schema. It is not my intention to list up exhaustive extensible points of the SDD schema at this moment. Instead, I would propose to agree on the design philosophy of such extensibility of SDD schema. You can find multiple success stories, for example JSDL, WSRF, WS-addressing, and even SOAP header. Also there are very good public materials. - Extensibility, XML Vocabularies, and XML Schema (2004/10) http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2004/10/27/extend.html - Creating Extensible Content Models http://www.xfront.com/ExtensibleContentModels.pdf Your thoughts? -- Hiro Kishimoto
