Subject: [ubl-fpsc] Schedule and reporting back from LCSC
Hi All, I've attached copies of our schedule (pdf, html and docbook). It will need to be modified as time goes by - hence triplicate formats. A colophon note (in view of the tasks ahead): I wrote the schedule table in OpenOffice as a spreadsheet and converted it to docbook using XMLSpy5's docbook template by cutting and pasting (some XSLT too) it from OpenOffice. That took a lot of messing around (it might be necessary to start tables with docbook instead - which takes some learning of the docbook standard) but XMLSpy handled the conversion to docbook quite happily. Then it was downhill; 1) converting to html with sourceforge opensource html/docbook.xsl stylesheet set (http://docbook.sourceforge.net/projects/xsl/). (Thankyou to Norman Walsh, the author.) 2) editing the html somewhat in Open Office before easily exporting to pdf (which needs Open Office's latest beta version but works very nicely). (Thankyou Open Office and all who've made that so easy!.) Reporting back from LCSC: A few points to note: We won't be making the release and review of 0p80 high profile regarding the public - it will mainly be an internal, three special review groups release and review. This means that the main work for the FPSC will be with 1p0, though FPSC 0p80 work is still required. The editing following the reviewers' comments won't be included until 1p0 so little is expected to change for this release once Chee Chai delivers the first Schemas to Ken (hopefully this or next week). LCSC has only been able to say so far that examples will be required in one scenario or another of *each* of the 8 document types. This will mean that 3 of the layouts will need to be designed from scratch for Office and/or Joinery scenarios. Since LCSC will have its hands full over the next fortnight and snce the original work on this was undertaken by Sue, Alan and Bill (led by Bill), it was agreed that I would see Bill about arranging a meeting between Sue, Alan and Bill and FPSC as soon as possible to actually work out these layouts and requirements and discuss the division of labour. (I was informed that Bill may be rather busy for the next couple of weeks which I guess might mean some delay here.) Since there won't, I thought, be the meeting tomorrow, I'd add a note on my action to write to Micah Dubinko regarding his xforms implementation of UBL: he kindly wrote back promptly though he was just off to Amsterdam for the W3C meeting. I wrote to clarify how I think XForms and UBL and UNeDocs can be brought together and why and I hope there may be a way he could join up a little more with us - even if it's just that we point to his UBL XForms implementation example.
