Subject: Re: [ubl-lcsc] [code] ISO considering charging for commercial use of code lists

Ken

I don't believe that this is a problem for us, at least not yet, because the
two key ISO code lists that we need are co-published by ISO and UN/ECE and
available free from UN/ECE.

These are a) the 3166 ISO Country Code List which is published by UN/ECE as
UN/ECE Recommendation No 3 and b) the ISO 4217 Currency Code list which is
published by UN/ECE as UN/ECE Recommendation No 9. The UN/ECE versions are
subsets of the full ISO lists bit nevertheless they do provide all that we
require for ebusiness so we don't need to pay for them.

BTW The UOM, units of measurements, code list is published by UN/ECE and not
by ISO. This list is UN/ECE Recommendation No 20 and is therefore free too.

Are there any others that we use in UBL so far?

cheers
