Subject: Minutes of Pacific UBL TC call 8|9 September 2008
MINUTES OF PACIFIC UBL TC MEETING TUESDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2008 ATTENDANCE Jon Bosak (chair) G. Ken Holman Tim McGrath (vice chair) Andy Schoka MINUTES OF THE UBL TC MEETING IN MONTRÉAL Pending. STANDING ITEMS Additions to the calendar: http://ubl.xml.org/events None. Subcommittee report: PSC TM: On hold till after BII meeting. INTERNATIONAL DATA DICTIONARY JB: Waiting for Denmark to finish updates. UBL WORK SCHEDULE ACTION (1/8): JB to revise the work schedule spreadsheet. Pending finalization of the BII schedule this month. CUSTOMIZATION GUIDELINES ACTION (9/2): All authors of the Guidelines to send original art to JB. JB: Still missing a few. Regarding Stephen Green's comments: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200809/msg00005.html Section 1.2.1, Lines 196/198 AGREED that the conformance definition is currently just for purposes of the Guidelines document, none of which is normative. However, it may well form the basis for a conformance clause in UBL 2.1. With regard to the Additional Document Constraints, we note that the prohibition against empty elements is not the only such constraint; there is also [IND2] All UBL instance documents MUST identify their character encoding within the XML declaration. And this constraint would be necessary to preserve regardless of opinions regarding empty elements. AGREED to add the parenthesis "(and does not violate any of the Additional Document Constraints specified in the UBL standard)" to the second sentence (196-197). AS: The document presupposes familiarity with CCTS concepts and terminology. JB/TM/GKH: This barrier to understanding is unfortunate, but lacking resources to create a readable introduction to CCTS, we must default to the CCTS spec itself. AS: Colors used to differentiate ABIEs from ASBIEs in Figs. 5-7 don't come through in printouts. ACTION: GKH to revise artwork to eliminate the color-coded labels. AGREED that JB will revise per this discussion and submit to TC for approval as first public review draft. UBL 2.1 ISSUES LIST ACTION (12/18): TM to populate the new issues list with all currently known UBL 2.1 issues. In progress. QUESTIONS ON 2.0 FROM JPLSC Discussed on this call: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200809/msg00000.html AGREED to the following dispositions: 1. (1) (a-c) To be put on the issues list for 2.1. 2. (1 and 2) We agree, and this is already on the 2.1 issues list in formation. 3. To be put on the issues list; will fix in 2.1. 2009 TC MEETING SCHEDULE 19-23 January 2009 in Fremantle http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200808/msg00010.html Expected attendance: TM, MC, GKH; possibly AS, MG, AH The rest of the 2009 meeting schedule is on hold till after the upcoming UN/CEFACT Plenary.
