Secretary Comments on Paris 2000.06.16 Document

Jon,

Here are the official comments on your interpretation of what
we said in Paris.

These notes were deliberately written ignoring any Post-Paris discussion
and may therefore repeat discussions elsewhere on this list.


1) Section 1. Definitions; Calendar quarter definition
   Suggestion: no change

Jon, you (probably intentionally) missed the fact
that we had had an ", inclusive" in the end of this
definition.  Agreed.  It does read better without
that, since "inclusive" would be redundant.


2) Section 3. TC Formation; last paragraph, first sentence
   Suggestion: amend sentence at a later point

   No later than 15 days following the submission, OASIS TC
   administration shall either provide these materials to the
   membership with a call for participation and an announcement of
   a first meeting, or *it shall* return the submission to its
   originators with an explanation of its failure to meet the
   requirements set forth in this section.

Jon, we had had that as a compound verb not repeating the subject "it".
The problem with adding the "it', is that there are two "its" farther
along in the sentence whose antecedents are the folks who want to
form a TC.  Suggestion: change the second two "its", the first to "the"
and the second to "any failure" or "all failures".

3) Section 4. First Meeting of a TC; last paragraph, 2nd sentence
   Missed an "individual OASIS member"
   Suggestion: replace with PEOTCP


4) Section 9. TC Visibility; paragraph five
   Suggestion: no change

   Every important change in TC status *shall* be posted to the
   announcement list,

We said "should" and you were right to change it!


5) Section 15. TC Coordination; paragraph 5 and 10
   Missed changing "14" to "15"

   Five:
   The voting ...by sending mail no later than 14 days
   preceding the meeting to the chair of the JC, and (c) attend
   the first meeting of the JC...

   Ten:
   If termination of membership in a JC causes a still existing
   TC's contribution of voting members to that JC to fall to zero,
   the chair of the JC shall, within 14 days following ...
