Subject: PIM and Novel Types
The original (as updated iCal Spec supports the definition of any number of top level components. Each top level component is a bag of properties, each property may have a bag of parameters, each parameter may have a bag of properties.
(Top level components: VEVENT, VTODO, VALARM, VJOURNAL, VFREEBUSY…) The PIM exists largely to simplify this indeterminance. No more recursion, Simpler definitions. Etc. The PIM has expanded beyond the original iCal set, adding the Gluon and the Vavailability to the “core” I am concerned that I do not see as of now how new Ical objects can be brought into the family, i.e., made conformant with the PIM. Can VPOLL be declared conformant? If it can be, my concern is met. If ti cannot be, then we should consider
what part of the PIM blocks an XML-based serialization of VPOLL (for example) from being declared conformant. tc "Computers are useless. They can only give you answers." —Pablo Picasso
