Subject: RE: [xacml-dev] Conformance Tests for V2
?? The current conformance tests are valid for 1.1 and this spec is making reference to XPath 1.0 (line 4013). And that version of XPath is a recommendation, hence is stable. In the conformance test IIIF005 the policy contains the following selector: <AttributeSelector RequestContextPath="//md:record[?]/md:patient_info/md:name/text()" MustBePresent="true" DataType="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string"/> And "[?]" is not a valid XPath 1.0 predicate. Since the conformance tests has been validated with the Java implementation of Xpath, which supports some features of XPath 2 the error was not raised before. I fall into an error since .Net implements XPath 1.0, and the XPath processor is throwing an error on parsing the expression. Are they planning to move into Xpath 2.0? That's bad news for us... Since the spec does not change in that matters I thought it will remains with 1.0. I just got back from the last call meeting for W3C XQuery/Xpath2.0 working group - we are still a year away from final recommendation in the best case. It seems premature for that reason to include anything from Xpath 2.0 even as the core spec is fairly stable - it is not a referable standard yet. I mean adding them to the main XACML page, so the developers would use for testing tools. Also, who's responsible for fixing the conformance tests? I reported some bug in the past, which don't seem to be fixed yet.
