Patent Disclosure Notification

Dear XACML TC,

In accordance with the requirements set forth in the OASIS Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy, Section 8 (DISCLOSURE), we provide the below noted Patent Disclosure statement.

Patent Disclosure to OASIS – XACML

The Boeing Company (Boeing) acknowledges that it has a continuing obligation to disclose intellectual property of which its individual participants involved with the respective Technical Committee have actual knowledge. Boeing wishes to inform the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) that Boeing holds United States patent numbers 7,921,452, and 8,056,114; the published patent applications as described below; and one unpublished application which may contain technology that may be essential to the implementation of the final specifications developed by the OASIS XACML (eXtensible Access Control Mark-up Language) Technical Committee. Boeing intellectual property disclosures are based upon the working knowledge of those individuals involved with the respective Technical Committee.

Currently published patent applications:

• US20090119745 Global Policy Apparatus & Related Methods, published 5/07/2009

• US20090281977 Checking Rule and Policy Representation, published 11/12/2009

Boeing is unable to provide more specific information regarding the unpublished patent application until such time as the application is published or the patent is issued. When and if the unpublished patent applications become published, Boeing will be able to provide this documentation to OASIS.

Should the above patent applications be issued as patents, and these patents are identified as containing claims deemed essential to the compliant implementation of the OASIS XACML specifications, Boeing, in support of OASIS intellectual property rights procedures, is willing to offer nonexclusive licenses under these issued patents upon written request from the implementers.
