  - review of minutes of last meeting

Membership
  - the chair announced his pending resignation from the committee
    - will stay on for one or two meetings until replaced
    - will continue to address any bug reports on merge prototype environment
    - unable to stay a member of the group in any capacity

Reports of standing committees:
  - Comparing Output and Role of Canonical XML - Carmelo, Pranav
    - no new information from standing committee
  - Discretionary Items (stable; no report expected) - Dave, Pranav
  - Web Site Maintenance - Carmelo
    - bring forward a copy of the "how to submit" file to the web site
    - creating a new summary page on the test regime configuration environment
      - coordinate with OASIS Conformance for cross pointers

Outstanding action items
  - 20000906-ACT-8: (Ken) model and prototype XML report and exclusion instance
    - completed first prototype
    - Ken is available for any repairs for faults found in the prototype
  - 20000906-ACT-9: (Carmelo) model and prototype rendition control 
instance and XHTML production working with Ken's results
    - work has begun
  - 20010213-ACT-5: (Pranav) document proposed HTML information set processes
    - no progress at this time
  - 20010711-ACT-6: (Pranav) a prototype test bench for internal committee use
    - no progress at this time
  - 20011217-ACT-1: (All) please send to Carmelo a list of tests you plan 
to review and their status on an ongoing basis as submissions are accepted
  - 20020205-ACT-1: (Ken and Stan) contact vendors for participation
    - responsibilities taken up by Stan
    - discussion ensued regarding draft letter prepared by Stan
  - 20020205-ACT-2: (David) propose position statement regarding 
serialization and encoding for committee comment next month
    - "infosetizing" should neutralize encoding issues
  - 20020205-ACT-3: (All) consider your opinion regarding releasing a 
complete set of tests without being vetted, or just number tests, or wait 
until all tests are vetted
    - decided to not publish complete set of tests at this time
    - prototype environment is packaging the number tests already

Agenda items
  - UTF-8/UTF-16 issues
    - see 20020205-ACT-2 above regarding neutralizing encoding issues
  - review of completed merge environment
    - excluded subelement with explanations
    - continued work on any bug reports (none reported to date)
    - prototype change
      - bring out zipping and unzipping into a batch file
  - documentation of regime?
    - something that needs to be done
    - work begun by Dave; can anyone else undertake to help him with this?
  - regarding committee membership
    - need a blend of existing members and new members to carry on the work
    - perhaps get resources from or collaborate with the XSL group or one 
of the member companies
    - Lofton to contact W3C QA chairs regarding the situation
