Subject: NOTES FROM 18 April ACXO Meeting


The following are minutes taken at the 18 April 2000 meeting (a
teleconference) of the Advisory Committee of XML.ORG (ACXO).

AGENDA/NOTES

- Discuss Craig's interpretation of the NAICS classification
  systems in view of current XML.ORG catalog contents

  QUESTIONS (for Una):
   Are multiple choices w/in 1st phase classification systems
     permissable?
  YES
   Are multiple classification systems supported?
  YES.

  NOTES: None of this is exposed in the UI (which the group
  believes is a good thing). Adding another classification
  system in the future will require additional services.
   
- Machine ready (donation from Sun) - OASIS staff must 
  sign off. 
  AI - Walker to sign off. 

- Jon to contact IANNA about OASIS becoming a
  registry authority for URN NIDs (namespace identifiers).
  Make proposal for how they apply to the regrep ref impl.
   STATUS: Jon reported on conversations w/Michael Meeling (sp?) 
     and the need to develop syntax. 
   AI: Una, Craig and Jon to propose syntax to ACXO. This
   team will meet via telecon on Thursday 19 April.

- Discussion of implementation of classification in UI.
  It is not possible to incorporate classification scheme 
  into repository given current schedule and resources.
  AI - Implementation team to come back with resource
  requirements to implement UI for launch.

- Review search fields & metadata available
  and provide feedback on search UI
    Usability testers will provide feedback.
    Craig working on user prompts.
