Subject: OASIS Member News: Mongoose Technology Previews Next Generation PortalDevelopment Solution at Delphi Corporate Portals Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mongoose Technology Previews Next Generation Portal Development Solution at Delphi Corporate Portals Conference

Rancho Mirage, Calif., Sept. 25, 2000 — Houston-based Mongoose Technology, Inc. previewed the Mongoose PortalStudioproduct suite today at the Delphi Corporate Portals Conference.  Offered today on a limited availability basis to select partners, Mongoose PortalStudio is a portal assembly tool that allows Web designers and programmers alike to quickly assemble enterprise portals from a growing library of Mongoose Technology and third-party WebComponents and WebConnectors. Until now Mongoose Technology had been working in stealth mode on a product that Delphi analysts say today will position Mongoose among the leaders in the portal development marketspace.

"Mongoose's PortalStudio product suite's support for the majority of current market-leading standards and technologies positions it well amongst the most open, integratable portal development solutions on the market today," said John Hughes, senior analyst, The Delphi Group.  "Mongoose's ability to deliver a solution that addresses the convergence of portal development and B2B integration services puts them among the leaders of portal development."

Erick Rivas, president of Mongoose Technology, said, "Unlike many portal building tools used by programmers, Mongoose PortalStudio is a portal assembly tool that can be used by Web designers as well.  It integrates with tools they are already familiar with like Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia Dreamweaver. They will be able to drag and drop WebComponents onto a presentation canvas and plug into one or more data sources through a WebConnector.  This ease-of-use approach ultimately quickens the development and maintenance of enterprise information portals and altogether takes portal development to a more mainstream level."

MySoftwarePartner Takes Mongoose PortalStudio to Fortune 1000

MySoftwarePartner (www.mysoftwarepartner.com) is one of the leading developers of B2B, eCommerce solutions.  Systems developed by MySoftwarePartner run the businesses of multi-billion dollar companies around the country, including Charles Schwab, Luxottica Group (parent group of LensCrafters), NationsBank, and Nortel Networks.  Its unique software development, training, and implementation methodologies are used to generate fast, fixed-priced solutions that translate into increased revenue and profits for its clients.  As a Mongoose Technology integration partner, MySoftwarePartner will be working closely with Mongoose to quickly deliver enterprise portal solutions to the Fortune 1000 that are tailored to these customers' needs and expected user experiences.

"Fortune 1000 companies need portal solutions that can be developed and implemented quickly and secure immediate and sustainable, high-profile results," said Brian Fox, vice president of MySoftwarePartner. "Mongoose will give us the advantage of enabling our Web designers to quickly assemble high-quality portals from a growing library of Mongoose WebComponents.  They will also enable us to easily build solutions that leverage multiple data sources via Mongoose's WebConnectors."

Mongoose PortalStudio and Availability

Mongoose PortalStudio is a second-generation EIP (Enterprise Information Portal) tool. It includes: the Mongoose Visual Portal Authoring Toolset, WebComponent Library, WebConnector Library, Mongoose PortalStudio Server, XML Mapper, and a Portal Framework that includes the WebComponent and WebConnector Java APIs.

Mongoose PortalStudio is written from the ground up to leverage new Web technology, including the J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) platform. The J2EE platform supports the growing number of JDBC, XML, and third-party WebConnectors that allow customers to leverage their existing investments in J2EE platforms, such as BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, and Apache Tomcat.

Today Mongoose has announced limited availability of Mongoose PortalStudio. The company is releasing it first to its strategic partners who are bundling the Mongoose PortalStudio technology within their portal development toolsets, to those who are building WebComponents and WebConnectors, and to specialized portal development consulting firms like MySoftwarePartner. General availability of the product is expected to be announced in early Q4 2000.
