Subject: RE: [cgmo-webcgm] ISSUE: zero-valued LINE WIDTH, stroke-weight
Hi everyone, I agree with Forrest, we can't change the profile with respect to zero values for edge and line width. This would likely break many existing files. To put this in terms of Lofton's choices in his original email, my opinion is for option 1a on sub-ISSUE 1 (CGM attributes) and 2a on sub-ISSUE 2 (WebCGM Style Properties). I see no reason to treat a style of %0 any different than a line width of 0 from the CGM. I would not like to have to keep track the source of my zero line width (from a 0% style or a zero value in the CGM file) and treat the rendering differently depending on the source of the value. We agreed at the end of today's telecon that we needed opinions from all implementors on these two sub-issues: permissibility and meaning of zero-valued LINE WIDTH (CGM attribute) and similar attributes; permissibility and meaning of zero-valued stroke-weight style property (and similar properties). We also want to hear from users with strong use cases, of course. I broke out the two sub-issues and options at the start of this thread (and Dieter already has replied once): http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/cgmo-webcgm/email/archives/2005 05/msg00103.html -Lofton.
