xAL 3.0 is part of the Customer Information Standards technical
committee of OASIS that has developed a comprehensive global name
and address specification. The work commenced in 2000 and V2.0 is
available. The specification is application independant and truly
global capable of handing addresses of all the countries in detail.

We are currently working on V3.0 of the name and address specs.
that we hope to have it released by end of Dec. 2004.

> Where is this coming from? Are specifications available?

These specs. are from OASIS CIQ TC.

UBL started with CIQ address specs. Most of its examples originated
from CIQ Specs. Election and Voting services technical committee of
OASIS and few other committees also use the CIQ specs. (particularly name and
address). CIQ is a liaison member of UBL.

Can you please email me the name and address specs. from TBG17 working group?

Regards,

Ram Kumar
Chair, OASIS CIQ TC
