Subject: RE: Question - SharePoint & JSR 286 portlet interoperability

Hi Deepa,

CMIS doesn’t directly impact JSR286 in anyway. JSR 286 deals with portlets (i.e. an element of user interface from a remote system), while CMIS provides programmatic access to content stored in a remote system. So the two standards are effectively operating at two different levels of the technology “stack”, and Microsoft’s plans to support CMIS in SharePoint don’t directly affect WSRP in any way.

Hope this helps,

- Ethan Gur-esh.

Subject: [cmis-comment] Question - SharePoint & JSR 286 portlet interoperability

Hi,

Can OASIS CMIS be used in SharePoint to consume JSR 286 complaint Java portlets? Means, can this service be any way helpful in consuming JSR 286 complaint Java portlets in SharePoint?

Thanks & Regards,

Deepa
