Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-509) Do we needgetProperties?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-509?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15642#action_15642 ]

Al Brown commented on CMIS-509:
-------------------------------

-1 Yes.
The signatures are different. getObject has more options to return different parts of the object (renditions, actions, acl, etc). If we remove getProperties, we should remove all the other services that returns parts of an object too.

I personally would like to see getProperties only return properties and thus change the output signature to cmisPropertiesType. However, there was enough people wanting to keep allowableactions, we could not make it like the others.

See CMIS-424.

> getProperties is a subset of getObject. Their signatures don't differ much in the Web Services binding and getProperties is not exposed in the AtomPub binding. Is there a compelling reason to keep it?
