Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-714) Proposal to addRetention & Legal Hold Policies for next version of spec

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-714?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=26519#action_26519 ]

David Churchland commented on CMIS-714:
----------------------------------------

I suppose I imagine batch updates being triggered by a new service that takes a query as a parameter. And yes, I had assumed that the Tree delete model would be the way to go for errors. Not sure what happens if someone attempts to put 100,000 documents on hold and half of them fail. Same problem arises with tree deletion I suppose.

I am only raising this issue as our eDiscovery team are pretty insistent about the ability to put large number of documents on Hold. That would be pretty slow if done one Document at a time.

Personally I am somewhat ambivalent given that once a record is in Trim it is effectively on hold anyway.

> A new Draft Version 0.2 of the proposal to add Retention & Legal Hold Policies has been uploaded. Main differences to the previous version:
> - A "Managed Retention Policy" has been added to support repository-determined retention periods (Thanks to Jens)
> - Previous Retention Policy with expiration date and optional destruction date has been split into two policies: Retention Policy and Destruction Policy
> Feedback appreciated
