Section 5.2.4 Mapping Schema Elements to JSON:

CMIS datetime property is defined as number indicating milliseconds since 1970/01/01

This limits the date range to use only dates after 1970. This restriction is not known in the domain model and not present in the other two bindings. This can potentially be a severe limitation for some applications.We need to specify how to handle dates before 1970

Possible solution:
Some people seem to use ISO 8601 strings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601)

Remark: Microsoft uses a different syntax but has the same restriction (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb299886.aspx)
