Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-735) Add capability to append to a content stream

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-735?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=29272#action_29272 ]

Derek Chow commented on CMIS-735:
---------------------------------

IBM Content Manager for iSeries may not have the built-in capability to support this proposed service. However, we can build an extension to support it if we see a need or customers have a demand for it.

I do support the proposed service as long as it is an optional service. For preference, I would choose the appendContentStream approach as well.

Questions: How is the content integrity of the object maintained? How can content corruption be avoided if multiple applications attempt to append content to the same object simultaneously? Or that should not be a concern from CMIS spec perspective and should be repository specific.

> In cases of giant files (e.g. a 30 GB CT Scan), a CMIS client would find it necessary to upload a file in chunks, allowing pause/resume capabilities.
