Subject: Re: [cti-publicmirror] RE: [cti] liaison group for OpenC2

Duncan, here's interim followup on the matter of using the documented "TC Liaisons" model for recognizing an OASIS TC as an external "TC Liaison", on analogy with the (literal) text where external refers to a different org.

I found three more examples where this (OASIS-TC to OASIS-TC) has been used, by analogy, I think usefully and reasonably, and I'm probably overlooking other examples.   And in an earlier discussion about the topic, Chet Ensign approved a draft motion that would set up a TC Liaison between the OASIS CTI TC and the OASIS KMIP TC.  See the reference below [1a]

I'll circle back with Staff to see if I've overlooked anything recent on this practice, and someone will clarify with the CTI TC about the proposal for OASIS CTI TC -to- (proposed) OASIS OpenC2 TC..

Similar to the TC Liaison KMP TC and PKCS 11 TC (and other examples):

https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=pkcs11#tc-liaisons

That's all I've spotted for now.

I thought I had an multiple examples illustrating the use of TC Home Page section ( #tc-liaisons) for pairs of OASIS TCs -- granting analogous structures and roles.  I only found one:

The Biometrics TC has a liaison relationship with:
- OASIS Trust Elevation TC  <====================**************
- ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 37 (Class A Liaison)
- INCITS M1

I can't locate the other examples ... maybe just imagined.   I'll ask around...

Robin,
Does the link you provided refer to how to liaison between two Oasis TC's? I thought it referred to TC-to-other-org and it was distinguishing between a Oasis-level liaison and a TC-level liaison to the 'other org'. I guess if both TC's consider the other TC as the other 'org', then it will work.

Duncan, in this bit:

Am I correct in assuming this 'formal liaison group' to be between the CTI TC and the openc2 TC?

While Org-to-Org liaisons are supported, the machinery for "TC Liaisons" is much more lightweight

The respective groups can discuss options, but I would certainly recommend the TC Liaison option if it meets your needs.

How does a "formal liaison group" work? What I could find on oasis website (https://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/liaison) is on liaisons between oasis and other groups.

I'm guessing we can't be 'formal' until openc2 has had it's first oasis meeting but I presume we could informally do it until that point.

Although "playbooks" is certainly worthy of discussion, we may want to start with the plain old COA work associated with getting the openc2 json up to snuff utilizing stix 2.0. I'm not even sure where to find the current openc2 stix json. There was a private repo (https://github.com/OpenC2-org/subgroup-stix) that was deprecated when we went to the new public repo structure. Once we find what we have, I suspect it needs updating with both openc2 changes and with stix2.0.

Hi All,

OpenC2 has had a STIX COA working sub-group that has been working on the representation of OpenC2 in the STIX COA and other related topics. The subgroup has representatives from OASIS as well as OpenC2.
As OpenC2 moves into OASIS, it would make sense for members of this group to act as a liaison in OASIS for OpenC2 and deal with the intersection topics between STIX/Cybox/TAXII and OpenC2. Towards this I would like to propose the creation of a formal liaison group. One of the first topics this group could deal with is the Playbook. I know this has been discussed in the past but within this group it could get a head-start.

Bret Jordan, Allan Thomson, Joseph Brule and some other members of OpenC2 have expressed interest in such a liaison group. If others agree with this proposal, we could take it through the formalities.

Thanks,
