Chapters are handled with the same titlepage mechanism as books.  You can
edit the titlepage spec file for the chapter entry to add a mediabobject
element before your title, then regenerate the titlepage templates.  If you
put a mediaobject element in each chapterinfo, it should appear.  See here

  In the previous formatting before trying out docbook, I had a layout that
looked something like

  text....

  So an image relevant to the chapter appearing as a sort of header directly
before the chapter title text.

  Is this possible in docbook?
