Hi Chris,
The namespaced stylesheets will be a completely separate distribution of 
the stylesheets.  They will have all element names prefixed with d: to 
attach the required DocBook 5 namespace to the elements.  All customization 
layers that import them and that mention element names will also need to be 
changed to add the namespace to the element names (you can use any prefix, 
as long as you use the same DocBook 5 namespace name).

But they won't break your customization layer unless you decide to use 
them.  The non-namespaced stylesheets will continue to be available.
