[moving this over to docbook-apps mailing list, where stylesheet issues are 

The default configuration for article titlepages does not include 
mediaobject (not sure why).  You need to customize the titlepage 
specification file to add it within the sequence of title elements, 
regenerate the titlepage templates, and import the generated templates into 
your customization layer, as described here:
