Subject: DocBook Technical Committee Meeting Meeting
DocBook Technical Committee Meeting Meeting: 14 Aug 2019
=============================================================
The DocBook Technical Committee met on Wednesday, 14 Aug 2019
(11am PDT, 12noon MDT, 1pm CDT, 2pm EDT, and 8pm CET)
Absent: Sabine Ocker
3. Next meeting: 11 September 2019
4. Review of the agenda.
5. Review of open action items
a. Extension for synopsis elements
(Issue #111)
All to review info element proposals and provide any feedback to Bob. Bob submitted samples to list 11FEB2019.CONTINUED. Response from Stefan, but we are looking for generic constructions
that apply to multiple languages, not specifically C++. Would need a point by point comparison to adequately determine if the Summer of Code proposal would work. Larry: functionally equivalent to a figure or a table. A formal and informal version would make sense (don't always want a title). Shouldn't be a sibling to section. Should be allowed
as a child of section. It doesn't serve the same purpose of a section, so how would it even be represented in a toc, for example? refentry has a place for synopsis.
TC: consensus w/Larry's feedback on the proposal. Question is where these should be allowed. Should be valid as child of section and refentry. The proposal contained content model proposals,
but not necessarily where to allow them. Submitter did a great job making this work across programming languages. ACTION: Larry to reply to submitter about refentry or section. Need ALL to test before we can have a proposal to vote on.
b. Bob to contact dourouc05 (from
issues list) valuate the Summer of Code work to determine if the proposal works or if there are other gaps to be considered. COMPLETED.
c. Larry to create an integrated proposal for legalsection, all to review before next meeting for approval. COMPLETED.
Bob to follow up with Norm and Jirka to get input. Plan to vote at next meeting. Need formal proposal to vote at next meeting. COMPLETED. ACTION: All to test the 5.2b07, plan to vote next meeting.
d. ACTION: Bob to have Norm/Jirka document the integration process. CONTINUED. Norm said he'd pull together some docs. FYI: W3C is no longer planning to work on the XML specification.
e. ALL: start work on action items earlier. CONTINUED
Some progress!
f. Scott to send a reminder mid-month. CONTINUED
[still needs work!]
g. (Issue #117 - allow info in listitem) Bob to follow up with Jirka to create a mocked-up schema change to
vote on. COMPLETED.
i. The
info element is a bit complicated (some models with titles, some without). Jirka suggested to use the non-titled version.
ii. Should
have a formal proposal to vote on at next meeting. ACTION: All to test (add listitem from Aug 12 email to 5.2b07) and we can do email ballot or formal vote at next meeting.
6. Social media presence for DocBook
