Subject: Re: DOCBOOK: Newbie: help with header formatting

/ Chris Crownhart <ccro@kaivo.com> was heard to say:
| My question is how (specific code would be helpful) do you make the
| headers of a printed page look like the pages of the DocBook Book (by
| Norman Walsh)?
| i.e. I want to have the left facing page header show the title of the
| chapter,
| and I would like the right facing page header to show the title of the
| section. Also, in that same header, is the line below the titles a
| graphic or something else?

The book itself was published using a special DSSSL to MIF stylesheet
and rendered with Frame, so there are probably typographic features
that will be difficult to achieve with the RTF or TeX backends.

For headers and footers, though, it should just be a matter of selecting
the right elements. I suggest you post your question on the docbook-apps
mailing list if you're looking for more specific aid.

                                        Be seeing you,

Norman Walsh <ndw@nwalsh.com> | It is a general error to imagine
http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/ | the loudest complainers for the
Chair, DocBook Technical Committee | public to be the most anxious for
                                   | its welfare.--Edmund Burke, 1769
