Subject: DOCBOOK: CSS + Beginner Style Question
Hi, I wonder if anyone could take the few minutes to explain some style questions to a beginner at docbook: I'm currently using docbook with Fop and Xalan and can get both html document and pdf documents generating up (which I'll do on the server side using servlets soon). However, while happy with the pdf format I'd like to make style changes to the html. Normally I'd use a CSS file for this formatting and have been trying to work out how to use one with my html files. It would not be enough to manually edit the file and add in the <LINK REL etc. information as pages will be created dynamically. So: 1) Is there a way of adding a reference to a css file in the XML file? 2) If so, how do you do it? 3) Does it need to be done in docbook.xsl ? 4) Do this get ignored for the Fop/PDF version? 5) Is there a main reason that people seem to use DSSL instead of CSS files? 6) Am I going about it incorrectly? What should I be doing to get styleized html files? Thanks in advance for any responses! Kind regards, Dave
