Subject: Negotiation comments
Marty, Some comments - Section 3.3 lifecycle - We should not require nor prohibit the use of third party negotiation services, IMHO. Automated composition - I think that it should be developed enough to show that the features in the CPP's are rich enough to support the accurate, consistent formation of a CPA. This may take the form of formation rules, or at least a way to express a range of possibilities and the way to validate that an offer falls within the range. Section 3.4 Automated negotiation (business) process This might be the best way to go. Then the business could choose to advertise a take it or leave it single set of values (a la WSDL), and only if they are willing advertise support for the negotiation process and a more complicated range of negotiable values, would they need to know about how to negotiate the values. Section 3.5 Negotiation CPP Aren't delivery channels abstract enough that the details negotiated in the transport qualities, and document properties can be viewed as agreed upon, and the delivery channels can stay unchanged? Section 3.8 Potential Steps in Advertisement, Discovery, and Negotiation Should this protocol also support a minimalist non ebXML aware user? In that case it might be as simple as submission of a CPA (filled out template) to a registry discovery by a trading partner do business Tim -----Original Message----- From: Martin W Sachs [mailto:mwsachs@us.ibm.com] Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2001 9:10 AM To: ebxml-cppa@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: Negotiation: subteam logistics I have attached the initial version of the negotiation white paper / requirements document. At this morning's CPPA conference call, it was decided to hold the discussions on this document on the CPPA list rather than privately within the subteam. Everyone feel free to discuss. Please prefix the subject line by the word "Negotiation" or <Negotiation> to allow everyone to do filtering. Extensive comments on specific items in the document may be inserted into a copy of the document using revision markup. That copy can then be posted back to the list. Please note that the document references the ebXML E-Commerce Patterns, v 1.0 technical report which is available on the ebXML web site. I also distributed to the subteam a proposal prepared by Duane Nickull a few months ago. If anyone else wants a copy, let me know.
