Subject: [ebxml-cppa] CPPA voting - negative votes
If this requires a formal vote of the TC, I suggest that we call a voting meeting for next week and go on a campaign to get out the vote. However, there were also two negative votes, with comments. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-voting/200210/msg00046.html http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-voting/200210/msg00047.html There are not sufficient negative votes to turn down the approval, but because there are negative votes the TC must now make a decision on what to do next. For the process for handling these negative votes see the fourth paragraph of Section 2 of the Process at http://oasis-open.org/committees/process_aug2001.shtml#sec2 (note that the CPPA spec was submitted under the 2001 version of the Process, not the new Sept 2002 version). "However, if negative votes amounting to less than 10 percent of the voting membership have been cast, the negative votes and accompanying comments, if any, shall be forwarded to the originating TC for consideration. After notification of the results, the TC shall have 30 days to take one of the following actions by resolution: (x) request OASIS to approve the specification as submitted despite the negative votes, or (y) withdraw the submission entirely, or (z) submit an amended specification, in which case the amended submission shall be considered as if it were a new submission, except that information regarding previous votes and any disposition of comments received in previous votes shall accompany the amended submission." The TC now has 30 days to notify OASIS what you would like to do: request that the spec be approved despite the negative votes, withdraw the spec, or withdraw it and submit a new spec later. I will await your decision. -Karl ================================================================= Karl F.
