Subject: RE: [egov] RE: Starting Discussion to Get Your Advice and Help withE-Forms for E-Gov
Sue, I fully agree with your points to John Borras regarding harmonization and avoiding & overcoming overlaps. From my perspective, one of the most serious problems in doing that in practice is the number of different bodies and committees involved, with the consequent number of meetings, mail-lists etc. My "main" forum of standards activity is an ISO committee; around that I try & keep in touch with some other relevant stuff; that tends to come & go in my bandwidth according to what I'm working on this month. I know that I must miss a lot; however, I just don't have the time to find out! Knowing that this is not untypical amongst standards-folks, I would strongly encourage you to find, in San Diego, a way of making things simpler and easier to "see" - rather than setting off new activities that the wider community of relevant people may or may not be able to track. Best regards, Ann W.
