Subject: ATTENDANCE AT e-GOV TC MEETINGS

We are now in full operation having had 4 TC meetings, and it's an appropriate time for me to draw everyone's attention to the OASIS rules for retaining membership of the TC.   Basically  you should attend 2 out of every 3 meetings.  Attending in this respect includes participating by teleconference or videoconference.   The rules are shown below.   We currently have a very large membership list  (some 100+ members) and that makes achieving a quorum at meetings very difficult and hence the running of the TC difficult.   Our next meeting is on 29th October in Washington DC, full details of which will be published in the next couple of weeks.  I do hope many of you will be able to participate in that meeting.   After that meeting I will review the lists of non-attendees at meetings  and decide whether to retain them as members or not.

John

OASIS rules:
A TC member must attend meetings regularly in order to retain membership. The TC chair or secretary should notify the person after he has failed to attend two out of three meetings. If the person does not attend after that then the chair must decide whether to retain that person as a member. The TC Process gives some latitude to the TC chair in making this decision, recognizing that some TC members are especially valuable or that a particular member may have had specific reasons for not attending.

To rejoin, a person who has been removed from membership must follow the same process as a new member, i.e. notify the chair of intent to participate and then be on probation for 60 days, etc.
