Subject: HK Govt XML Guide finalized
Dear eGov TC, The Hong Kong SAR Government has finalized the XML Schema Design and Management Guide V1.0. Most of the changes on the draft are clarifications. On the other hand, a new type of entity called Externally Defined Entity is added to the schema design methodology for importing and associating external schemas to encode data elements, which are already well defined in some technical and indsutry standards. For example, one can import the W3C XML Signature schema and create an Externally Defined Entity to encode a digital signature which is defined by the external XML Signature schema. Another example is: one can use XHTML to specify the product description by creating an Externally Defined Entity associated with the XHTML schema. HKSARG XML Schema Design and Management Guide is available at: http://www.itsd.gov.hk/itsd/english/infra/eif.htm Besides, our Government has also set up a Central Registry to manage our Common Schemas at: http://www.xml.gov.hk At the moment, the Registry is still quite primitive. It will potentially be revamped in future when there is a stronger demand in using the Registry, e.g. more Common Schemas to be managed, and more XML projects to be shared among agencies. Please feel free to give us comment to improve our work.
