If so, then I would point out that a "result set" is an ordered list of records that satisfy particular search criteria. The records themselves can be composed in whatever manner suits the need. Certainly the records can be composed of elements drawn from multiple sources, whether those had been centralized or distributed, and whether they had common structures or not. So, melding content from an OASIS Registry and Public UDDI is quite feasible in a Z39.50 environment. Because Z39.50 itself is silent about how melding is to be accomplished, melding mechanisms are unconstrained.
