Subject: [Fwd: Re: Proposal for Key Management Summit this summer]

FYI. They have already put us on the agenda for a speaking slot.
For those who are interested, this may be something worth planning
to attend as it will be held back-to-back with Crypto.

Hi folks,

I've put up a preliminary website for Key Management Summit (KMS) 2008.
See <http://www.keymanagementsummit.com/2008/>

The Crypto conference is still holding a spot in Santa Barbara for us on
Thursday August 21-22. We'll need to get back within the next week or
so to hold that spot. If that seems a little too tight, timing-wise, we
could look into pushing the summit off farther and use a different
venue, like the Sun auditorium in the bay area.

If you are interested in formally being part of the KMS 2008 Program
Committee, please let me know. If you don't have time or interest in
such things, I'd be happy to remove your name from this list so that
your in-box doesn't become a key management wasteland :)

Cheers,
-Matt

     Hi All,

I just wanted to give you all an update of where we're at.

I've asked both the MSST and Crypto folks about co-hosting, and have
gotten back a very quick and welcoming response from Crypto, but
haven't heard any confirmation on room availability with MSST. My
preference would be to use the Thursday and Friday after Crypto 2008
in August as a first choice, and only go with MSST if the Crypto
     colocating doesn't work out.

As it turns out, NIST had tentatively reserved Thursday and Friday
after Crypto for the next 'Hash' conference, but that plan fell
through so now Crypto has that space open. We're currently
     penciled-in as a replacement.

I'd like to solidify plans as quickly as possible. Let's hold an
open meeting within the next couple weeks to discuss things like
name, location, format, and funding. Please let me know what days
you have available, and whether you could provide a dial-in.

If possible, I'd like to use IEEE to manage the admission fees, but
I believe that we'll also need several corporate sponsors to cover
the additional costs. Could each of you please check with your
respective companies to see whether you could sponsor a couple
thousand dollars. We'll make sure to recognize all the sponsors on
the conference website and handout so that this money could be
     considered 'advertising'.

     Thanks!
     -Matt
