Subject: RE: [emix] Can you do it again?
I understand why there is a need for attributes that characterize resources for dispatch by others. In the world of utility owned generation following forecasted unmanaged load, generation resource are characterized in some detail. When this same concept of a resource as a negawatt is applied to customers, DER and storage it is much harder to characterize such resources. For example, how long can my hot water heater shut down before I need power for more hot water. It depends on lots on uncontrollable factors and opt out provisions. While putting these attributes in the spec won’t hurt if people don’t use them in the wrong places, leaving them only encourages them to be used. So I vote for leaving them in with an appropriate warning label. Edward G. Some of them are Energy Interop, some meta-information about resources and resource availability. How often resource can perform? How long to recover since last time performed? Maximum length of time it can perform at one time. Maximum times per [day] that it will tolerate being asked to perform Etc I am imagining creating a new interface object (the Pawpaw, continuing our fruit conversation) that is a complex type encompassing this suite of attributes, and making an object of that type an optional element of every resource. 1) Any Objections? 2) What is the proper name of the Pawpaw Tc Pickin' up paw-paws, put 'em in your pockets, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it” -- Upton Sinclair.
