Subject: RE: [emix] [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (EMIX-423) 324 Autonomous - What does this mean? I

We have two classes if interaction patterns we are supporting with EMIX information models; Resource VTN/VEN and transactive energy.
With respect to autonomous or automated response, in the Resource may have an automated controller. For transactive energy, the Party may utilize automation to respond to and make tenders and then automate the control of devices on his premise behind the controller. In either case the interactions are the same regardless of whether the response is automated or not, except the an automated response may be faster.

PAP07 provides for both control and price responsive DER. It also provides for DER that monitor grid conditions such as frequency and voltage and respond much as a generator governor might respond. In this later case these are device characteristics.

I suggest that Autonomous should be a Resource Characteristic, however we will need some way to characterize what is autonomous and what is not with respect to resource control.

. Or if it characterizes a smart device that self-dispatches in response to tenders should it be in the service definitions in EI.

>> It could be, maybe it should.

I would like to be able to sell an autonomous/self dispatching service, especially in ancillary markets without requiring the large overhead of resources. Connecitivty Week this year saw lots of traffic for someone offereing exactly such a service, and it was mentioned in PAP07.

There is a lot of different between an Home Security Service (we'll respond adter the alarm goes off) and a on-site security guard ("I'll make sure you never get an alarm"). They should have different values, which means its poart of product definition.

> 324 Autonomous - What does this mean? If it means that there are some automated controls on a resource or device then this should only be in resource.xsd. Perhaps the original intention was a device that monitors and responds to frequency or voltage and phase angle. Or if it characterizes a smart device that self-dispatches in response to tenders should it be in the service definitions in EI.
