We've discussed aspects of this when considering the cognitive approach of fast decision makers and game players. Somewhere in the Star Trek literature is the description of the battle that made James Kirk the youngest Captain in the fleet. He describes a decision he made in which he could 'see the battle forming'. Some claim this to be a 'genius' capability yet this article insists this is simply experience. While not coming down on one side or the other there, it is evident that simulations based on expert systems have the power to train (d'oh) and that if interpersonal relationships thrive or die based on cultural imperatives, our training systems must have the cultural components as augmented by near real time information. len
