Subject: RE: [id-cloud] FW: [egov-sc] CLOUD COMPUTING

..and looking at the link I am already the liaison with the OASIS eGov Member section:-).

But at least my boss now reluctantly agrees I can do it now .. I guess after-the-event is better than nothing!

So I will ensure I keep putting ID Cloud in front of the OASIS eGov MS at every opportunity. On this eGov MS morning's call, I heard that the Dutch government appears to have stalled on Cloud because what I think sounds like a 'sovereignty' issue - having Dutch info held in another territory, such that they no longer have jurisdictional control over it. My government has similar concerns but down here some folks are advancing a counter argument that says that this should be context and risk related..keep your risky stuff in your own country, worry less about less risky stuff on the Cloud by having risk mitigations in place in SLAs, processes and so on. I'll find out more from the Dutch and report back though.

Cheers
Colin

  Colin,
we operate with other groups via liaison relationships. I would
suggest that you be our eGov liaison.

We definitely can benefit from eGov use cases.

Anil

We've had an Item on the work plan all year to establish a Discussion Forum but that hasn't come to anything yet and I do wonder now whether that is the right thing for us to be doing. I've just been pointed to this article and related material which gives a good overview of where things are at and who's doing what. The question is in my mind is, given all this activity where can we add value or fill in some missing bits? I would welcome your views and let's have a discussion about it on next week's SC call.
