I.T. Certification Group Wants Help <ed/>

(November 02, 2004) The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology is forming four workgroups and seeking industry participation. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, American Health Information Management Association, and National Alliance for Health Information Technology formed the commission to establish programs for certifying health care information systems. Its first priority is electronic medical records software for ambulatory care settings.

The workgroups will consider issues surrounding functionality, security and reliability, interoperability, and the certification process. The commission on or around Nov. 8 will issue a call for participation, via its Web site, and is seeking approximately 10 members for each workgroup.
