http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/42887/KMIP%20Usage%20Guide%20Proposal%20on%20Device%20Credentials%20v4.doc In the last paragraph the document notes: "When a server can not resolve the attributes in the device credential to a unique client identification, it may choose to reject the request with an error code of operation failed and reason code of item not found. " I think it would be more appropriate for the reason to actually be "Authentication not successful" given that the error is within the authentication part of the request header. Otherwise a KMIP client will not be able to determine if the actual operation failed with "Item not found" or if the authentication check failed. Tim. |
