Subject: RE: [kmip] Groups - kmip-https-profile-v1.0-wd04.pdf uploaded

Tim,

When quoting me, please quote in context. Your selective quote misrepresents my statement. The full context in my email was:

--------
Practical implications of this for server vendors who wish to ensure that their servers remain compliant with the standard if this proposal is accepted:

If a user elects to enable KMIP/HTTPS and disable KMIP/TTLV must either
a. Disallow the user from configuring port 5696 for KMIP/HTTPS, or
b. Override user's wishes and enable KMIP/TTLV on port 5696
---------

This is not rubbish. This is a statement of fact. Note in the first sentence: "... servers remain compliant ...".

You say:
> The server can simply note that the user is electing to run in a non-conforming mode

It is not possible to "run in a non-conforming mode" and operate in a compliant mode simultaneously. My original statement remains true.

John
