Subject: 30-day Public Review for LegalDocML's Akoma Ntoso V1.0 - ends June 5th

OASIS members and other interested parties,

The OASIS LegalDocumentML (LegalDocML) TC [1] members have recently approved three Committee Specification Drafts (CSDs) and submitted them for 30-day public review:

Akoma Ntoso Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 01 / Public Review Draft 01
14 January 2015

Akoma Ntoso Naming Convention Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 01 / Public Review Draft 01
14 January 2015

Akoma Ntoso Media Type Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 01 / Public Review Draft 01
25 March 2015

Akoma Ntoso Version 1.0 provides

Part 1: XML Vocabulary presents the main motivations, design principles, and benefits of the Akoma Ntoso vocabulary and approach. The document is non-normative material that presents the main pillars of Akoma Ntoso to the stakeholders that need to take decisions about how to manage legal sources in a digital manner in a Semantic Web society.

Part 2: Specifications documents the Akoma Ntoso XSD and DTD standard, including the graphic representation using Oxygen library.

Akoma Ntoso Naming Convention Version 1.0 provides the naming convention for defining IRIs and ids related to the Akoma Ntoso XML standard. Within the schema of Akoma Ntoso, id attributes are declared as optional, but whenever attributes eId and wId are actually used the specifications in this document are mandatory.

Akoma Ntoso Media Type Version 1.0 contains the relevant information for the registration of the Akoma Ntoso media type (akn+xml) with IANA.

TC Description:

The LegalDocML TC produced the Akoma Ntoso XML schema 3.0 and main documentation. The TC is now working on the advanced documentation, tutorial material and success stories.

Public Review Period:

The public review starts 07 May 2015 at 00:00 UTC and ends 05 June 2015 at 23:59 UTC.
