Subject: Fwd: Email sent to voters re: [legalxml-sc] Groups - Ballot closed: "Approve LegalCiteM TC affiliation with the Member Section"

Members of the Legal Citations TC and the LegalXML Member Section,

The Special Majority Vote to approve the TC's request to affiliate with the Member Section has passed. Details are provided below.

The web page for the TC and Member Section will now be updated to list the TC's affiliation. In addition, the TC will need to elect a representative to sit on the Member Section Steering Committee in accordance with section c of the MS Rules of Procedure (http://www.legalxml.org/governance/rules_of_procedures.shtml) which reads:

"Each OASIS LegalXML Member Section Affiliated Technical Committee shall elect a member of its Technical Committee to serve as its representative on the OASIS LegalXML Member Section Steering Committee"

Please let me know if you have any questions on this.

Best regards,

Ballot Title: Approve LegalCiteM TC affiliation with the Member Section

Do you approve the request from the OASIS Legal Citation Markup (LegalCiteM) TC to affiliate with the Member Section?

Voting Results

4 of 4 eligible voters cast their vote before the deadline. - Yes received 4 Votes - No received 0 Votes - Abstain received 0 Votes The ballot received 0 comments.

The Legal Citation Markup (LegalCiteM) TC has requested affiliation with the LegalXML Member Section [1]. Per the OASIS Member Section Policy, section 6, this request must be approved by the Member Section Steering Committee.

The TC chartered with the Non-Assertion Mode of the OASIS IPR Policy rather than with RF on Limited Terms Mode which is currently required by the Member Section’s Rules of Procedure. Non-Assertion is considered a more open, less restrictive mode than RF on Limited Terms and was not in existence when the MS was formed. Approving the TC’s request to affiliate requires waiving the requirement for RF on Limited Terms Mode.

This ballot requires a Special Majority Vote [2]. The SC roster currently lists 3 voting members. In order to pass, at least 2 members have to vote Yes and none may vote No.
