OASIS News 15 July 2002 Welcome to OASIS News, a publication for the OASIS membership community providing updates on Consortium announcements, accomplishments and activities. OASIS News is published twice a month. ------------------------ CONSORTIUM ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------------------ OASIS and W3C will cosponsor the Forum on Security Standards for Web services on Monday, 26 August at XML Web Services One in Boston http://www.xmlconference.com/boston/. Attendees will gain greater understanding of the relationship between security standards currently being developed at W3C and OASIS, and receive insights on future work, connects, disconnects, overlap and synchronicity. ---------------- TC ANNOUNCEMENTS ---------------- The OASIS Web Services Security Technical Committee is being formed. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200207/msg00005.html The OASIS ebXML CPPA TC has submitted the Collaboration-Protocol Profile and Agreement Specification Version 2.0, which is an approved Committee Specification, for review and consideration for approval by OASIS members to become an OASIS Standard. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200207/msg00000.html The OASIS Security Services TC has submitted the SAML V1.0 specification, which is an approved Committee Specification, for review and consideration for approval by OASIS members to become an OASIS Standard. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200207/msg00001.html A new OASIS discussion list have been created to discuss the creation of a User Interface Markup Language (UIML) TC. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200207/msg00004.html A call for additional participation by the OASIS/ebXML Registry TC has been issued. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200207/msg00006.html A Call For Vote to approve the ebXML Messaging Service Specification V2.0 Committee Specification as an OASIS Standard has been issued, votes are due by the end of July. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200207/msg00007.html ----------- TC MEETINGS ----------- The OASIS Common Biometrics Format (XCBF) TC will hold its next meeting on 22 Aug as an internet meeting at noon EDT. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xcbf/ OASIS HumanMarkup TC will tentatively hold its next meeting 17 July. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/humanmarkup/ The OASIS Rights Language TC will hold teleconferences every other week on Wednesdays, 12 PM - 1 PM EDT. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/rights/ The OASIS eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML) TC will hold its next F2F on 30 July-1 Aug in Boston. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xacml/ The OASIS Security Joint Committee (SJC) will hold its next meeting on 25 July, 12:00 noon EDT. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/security-jc/ The OASIS Topic Maps Published Subjects TC will hold its next F2F at Extreme Markup Conference, Montréal on 9 August - Plenary 9:00-5:00 in the Hospitalité (CL 50) room and 10 August- 9:00-5:00 in the Alfred Rouleau room. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tm-pubsubj/ The OASIS Topic Maps Published Subjects for Geography and Languages (GeoLang) TC will hold its next F2F at Extreme Markup Conference, Montréal on 10 August. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/geolang/ The OASIS Vocabulary for XML Standards and Technologies (XMLvoc) TC will hold its next F2F at Extreme Markup Conference, Montréal on 10 August, 13:00-16:00 (local time). http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xmlvoc/ ----------------- NEW OASIS MEMBERS ----------------- OASIS is pleased to announce that NerveWire, http://www.nervewire.com/, and Vision Council of America, http://www.visionsite.org/, have joined the Consortium as sponsor members. We welcome these new member companies to OASIS and look forward to their contributions. ------------------- OASIS ON THE AGENDA ------------------- 15-17 July, Catalyst North America 2002, San Francisco, California Members of the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee will collaborate in a SAML 1.0 Interoperability Demonstration at the Burton Group Catalyst Conference. Patrick Gannon will be the principal speaker at the press conference. Patrick will also make a presentation and appear on a panel at 15 July. Hal Lockhart, XACML TC co-chair and SJC member, will make a presentation 16 July. 16 July, Mitre's Open XML Day, Reston, Virginia Karl Best will present "XML Standards for Web Services & the Public Sector." 22 July, Boundaryless Information Flow, Boston, Mass Patrick Gannon will present an "OASIS Standards Update" session. 4-9 August, Extreme Markup Languages 2002, Montréal, Canada Jon Bosak, Sun Microsystems and chair of the OASIS UBL TC, will make a presentation.
