The format was developed and continues to be advanced by the OASIS OpenDocument TC, and its use is promoted by the OASIS ODF Adoption Committee. Defining an open XML file format for office applications, the standard is suitable for text, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentations, and databases. The format frees documents from their applications-of-origin, enabling them to be exchanged, retrieved, and edited with any OpenDocument-compliant software or tool. OpenDocument has been given the designation, ISO/IEC 26300. http://www.oasis-open.org/news/oasis-news-2006-05-08.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Board Nominations Close Tuesday Nominations for the OASIS Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Board close 23 May.
