Subject: OASIS turns the year to 2020

ÂIt is often said that the only constant is change. That adage seems a bit more true now in OASIS as we look back on 2019 and forward to 2020.

Â

Last year we saw positive results in every measure - OASIS Members were very productive in their Specification and Standard development work, the OASIS community grew in several dimensions, the OASIS service footprint expanded, and our collaboration tools and processes continued to evolve.

Â

OASIS Technical Committees were very productive in 2019.Â

Â- We approved 10 OASIS Standards and 27 Committee Specifications.Â

Â- We launched 3 new TCs: CACAO) for cybersecurity playbooks; Threat Actor Context (TAC); , and LEXIDMA for lexicographic data.

- ÂWe hosted events around the world including: Borderless Cyber in Washington, DC, KMIP Interop at RSA in San Francisco, International Data Protection Workshop at Oxford,
EDXL Workshop at International Association of Emergency Managers in Georgia.

The OASIS Open Projects program launched in MayÂÂgiving open source communities a new level of support and an optional path to standardization. New projects include:

-ÂÂÂÂÂÂ Open Cybersecurity Alliance, which is sponsored by IBM, McAfee, and 22 other organizations

-ÂÂÂÂÂÂ Ethereum OASIS Open Project, which is working to create specifications to support one of the worldâs largest programmable blockchains.

-ÂÂÂÂÂÂ OSLC, which transitioned from a Member Section to an Open Project

ÂÂÂ

OASIS also launched theÂOpen Mobility Foundation under our Foundation-as-a-Service hosting programÂhttps://lists.oasis- open.org/archives/members/201906/msg00009.htmlÂ. The OMF is led by cities around the world that are committed to using open source technology to manage evolving transportation needs.

Â

Building on the success of the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the ISO Consumer Privacy by Design PC 317, we again partnered with ANSI, this time bringing together experts to form the US TAG for ISOâs new Sharing Economy TC.

Â

Lastly of note, the OASIS membershipÂmanagement system and internal accounting system were migrated to new, integrated platform This was the first phase of a process Âthat will Âresult in many new community collaboration tools in 2020.

Â

Looking aheadâthe Board of Directors is actively working to identify our next Executive Director to help lead OASIS in its ongoing growth and evolution. Careful considerationÂis being given to many qualifiedÂcandidates and the breadth of business opportunities ahead for OASIS. We expect this strategically important role to be filled early 2020.

Â

Plans are underway to make significant changes to several aspects of the OASIS web presence in 2020- from the public informationÂsite to the TC Workspace tools. Several contracting opportunities will be offered in this undertaking as we seek professional support in these efforts. We also expect several opportunities will arise for members to formally and informally share their opinions and expertise. Be on the lookout for your opportunity to participate!

Â

We foresee significant growth in OASIS Open Projects as this communityÂservice package so well aligns with marketplace expectations to collaborate in an open source community on deliverables with an open source license. If you have a project idea, contactÂcarol-geyer@oasis-open.orgÂ.

Â

It is worth noting thatÂsome things will not changeÂin 2020. Organizationally, OASIS will remain focused on supporting members in their collaboration. We will be laser focused on listening to the ever-changing marketplace and encouraging the newest technical developments that will help create new markets and new services that will serve the public good.

Â

Lastly, a few words of thanks. Led by Gershon Janssen our always-supportive Board of Directors went above and beyond in 2019, navigating our organization through management changes, new policies, and major technology migrations. The staff deeply appreciates the time and expertise these Directors have contributed to making this such a successful time for OASIS.Â

Â

Finally, of course, our most profound thanks, admiration, and respect goes out to you, the members of OASIS.ÂEvery day, you demonstrate how to collaborate with gusto,Âdisagree with grace, and build a more open and interoperable world...together.ÂWe are privileged to support your brilliance.

Â

Scott...ÂÂ
